The Four Rules of Firearm Safety

These rules are the foundation of everything. Memorize them. Live them.

1

Treat every firearm as if it is loaded.

Even if you believe it is unloaded, always handle it as though it could fire.

2

Never point the muzzle at anything you are not willing to destroy.

Keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction at all times.

3

Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on target and you have made the decision to shoot.

Rest your finger along the frame, outside the trigger guard.

4

Know your target and what is beyond it.

Bullets can travel through targets. Always be certain of your backstop.
